It’s been a long time but I’m still here. I’ve been busy with other blogs but I’m back. As of last week I’ve decided that this will be the Spring and Summer of Me (like the, “Summer of Geroge”) and I will be going to different eateries and I will share. Hope be posting the info soon. Until then have a Great Friday and Weekend!!!
This weekend I took a walk and ended up at Eataly. I had my camera ready to take pictures but I was to overwhelmed with all there was to see that I forgot to take my camera out from my pocket 😦 But let me just say I will be back and pictures will be taken. If you haven’t heard of Eataly, it just everything Italy. Eataly has a mixture of imported items and locally made items, all good. I bought an artisan bread that was so tasty. Tune in for pics at a later date 😉
The other day I went to a Greek Restaurant and ate a wonderfully tasty arugula and fig salad. I was eating figs and it didn’t even taste like it I thought it was a grilled eggplant. I went online looking for a similar recipe and I found a bunch but they all seem to be much different than what I had 😦 I guess I’ll have to improvise.
The heat is on. It’s so damn hot and it’s only the beginning of May I’m not looking forward to those months ending with “Y”. With this weather besides making people (including myself) feel miserable and crabby thinking of the kitchen is not anywhere near our thoughts but we must eat. Eat! Who wants to cook? Not me! Eating out does help but by August it will burn a hole in my financial pocket. So I must get creative with salads and grilled veggies.
On Saturday I saw a lot of people outside gardening and I was envious. I wish I had a garden to tend to. I wonder if I put a small pot on the windowsill if the seeds would grow. I know I wouldn’t be able to grow berries or tomatoes due to limited space but herbs is better than nothing. At this point would the herbs grow or is it to late to plant seeds? If I can still grow them I’ll check out
The Cook’s Garden, the have a bunch of stuff I can grow.
As I read more cookbooks, blogs, recipes, etc, I’ve come to realize that there are a bunch of vegetables I’ve never tried. It’s not that I don’t want to try these veggies it’s just that I have no idea how to make, prepare or combine them with the foods I make. Here is a list of some of the veggies I steer clear from at the supermarket;
- Celery Root
- Zucchini Flowers
And it wasn’t up to a year ago that I finally ventured out and prepared some food with dill and thyme for the first time. Yeah sure I have tasted these two before but in restaurants.
What veggie haven’t your tried yet or recently tried?
