Over the weekend as I was trying to beat the heat I tried an Edy’s Fruit Bar the flavor Pineapple and I must say it was like eating the actual fruit. It was sooooo good! It reminded me of when I would go out shopping with my father and he would buy me a Pineapple ices from the Pizza shop. Edy’s also has a bunch of other flavors but why try them when I can’t get enough of the Pineapple one 😉
Have you ever had wine from a box? Interesting concept but I don’t think cardboard and wine have any business being in the same sentence. Well I have just found something even more interesting a Wine Coat. It’s a purse and the wine is kept on the bottom. You just have to see.

The heat is on. It’s so damn hot and it’s only the beginning of May I’m not looking forward to those months ending with “Y”. With this weather besides making people (including myself) feel miserable and crabby thinking of the kitchen is not anywhere near our thoughts but we must eat. Eat! Who wants to cook? Not me! Eating out does help but by August it will burn a hole in my financial pocket. So I must get creative with salads and grilled veggies.
Sunday night on PBS, I caught a gimps of the documentary, Food Inc. Have you seen it? The few minutes I saw were very upsetting. They showed cattle on very large areas of land that appeared to be bare from any grass. Don’t get confused, the land they were on is not a farm but a factory. Cows are fed corn to “beef” them up quicker. Cows are meant to eat grass people! Corn is being consumed in outrages amounts even my humans and we are oblivious. Grab a box of an edible product (maybe not even edible, check your shampoo or soap) and it probably has some corn product. Don’t get me wrong I like my meat and chicken but I don’t want a sweatshop piece of meat. My lunch today, no meat! Dinner might be some wild fish or salad. I don’t thing either will be safe in Food Inc though. I think, I might just need to grow my own…EVERYTHING!
Today for lunch I actually brown bagged it. Trying to save money, what better way than to bring something from home where one has salt and sugar portion control. Usually I’ll bring leftovers but since yesterday’s leftovers (Shepard’s Pie) is today’s meal as well, I had to bring something else. So today’s lunch is peanut butter and grape jelly on flax seed and fiber bread. I also put a strawberry-banana flavored yogurt. This should hold me over until dinner. If I feel hungry I’ll just keep drinking water and try to stray away from the chocolate chip cookies that were left in the conference room for my amusement. Maybe tomorrow I’ll have a fun filled Bento Box 🙂
A few weeks ago I had my first taste of a French Macaroon. It all happened by mistake thought. I went to the Macy’s food section looking at their chocolate and candy, I was looking for anything French they might have. Yes, I’m going through a French stage. I want to eat, read and learn the language. Anyway, Macy’s had nothing so I left and decide to just walk and catch my bus a few blocks away. But long and behold a few blocks away I came across a French Cafe, that’s what the sign said. I walked in and there were a bunch of different flavors of MACARONS. OMG! Just as I gave up! I bought a few and the first one I tasted was a slightly red colored raspberry macaroon. It was delicious. As I left the cafe I glanced up at the sign again and it said, French Cafe MACARON. I had totally missed the Macaron part of the owning the first time. Now I’m in search for the next macaron.
