It’s been a long time but I’m still here. I’ve been busy with other blogs but I’m back. As of last week I’ve decided that this will be the Spring and Summer of Me (like the, “Summer of Geroge”) and I will be going to different eateries and I will share. Hope be posting the info soon. Until then have a Great Friday and Weekend!!!
So I’m in search of a bowl for my Secret Santa. The name I picked out of a brown paper bag has dropped hints that she wants a pasta bowl. I’m planing on getting the bowl and filling it up with pasta, pasta sauce, an apron, kitchen towels and anything else I can find. Sounds like a fun gift right? I hope she likes it.
This weekend I took a walk and ended up at Eataly. I had my camera ready to take pictures but I was to overwhelmed with all there was to see that I forgot to take my camera out from my pocket 😦 But let me just say I will be back and pictures will be taken. If you haven’t heard of Eataly, it just everything Italy. Eataly has a mixture of imported items and locally made items, all good. I bought an artisan bread that was so tasty. Tune in for pics at a later date 😉
I love to cook! Bake…only from a box. A would love to create instead of a book club (which my group was suppose to finish reading the book Nov 17 and it’s Dec and I’m the only one reading the boring book) a club with food. A group of friends each cook a dish and then we share over wine. Unforgettably my group of friends rather go out to eat than cook. I’ll yet again be the only one cooking. Does anyone else belong to a Cooking Club?
The heat is on. It’s so damn hot and it’s only the beginning of May I’m not looking forward to those months ending with “Y”. With this weather besides making people (including myself) feel miserable and crabby thinking of the kitchen is not anywhere near our thoughts but we must eat. Eat! Who wants to cook? Not me! Eating out does help but by August it will burn a hole in my financial pocket. So I must get creative with salads and grilled veggies.
Sunday night on PBS, I caught a gimps of the documentary, Food Inc. Have you seen it? The few minutes I saw were very upsetting. They showed cattle on very large areas of land that appeared to be bare from any grass. Don’t get confused, the land they were on is not a farm but a factory. Cows are fed corn to “beef” them up quicker. Cows are meant to eat grass people! Corn is being consumed in outrages amounts even my humans and we are oblivious. Grab a box of an edible product (maybe not even edible, check your shampoo or soap) and it probably has some corn product. Don’t get me wrong I like my meat and chicken but I don’t want a sweatshop piece of meat. My lunch today, no meat! Dinner might be some wild fish or salad. I don’t thing either will be safe in Food Inc though. I think, I might just need to grow my own…EVERYTHING!
Lunch yesterday was a steak and guacamole fajita I bought from the local Mexican spot. Yum! I wish I could replicate it at home but I have no diea what type of seasoning they use on the meat. It’s all about the seasoning, that great flavor. I’ve bought pre-packaged packets of fajita seasoning but there is no comparison. It’s weird, the packets are full of hot spices and salt but yet the flavor falls flat. I guess I’ll just have to keep buying the fajitas at the local restaurant. 🙂
