Wednesday Catch:Coupon and Recipe Combo

This past Sunday while I was cutting out coupons I saw a coupon with a recipe attached. This coupon with recipe idea isn’t new I see one or two every Sunday but last week this coupon+ recipe combo was more than ever before.  I actually think that in the whole cutting coupon frenzy I missed of few of those combos. Here’s what I managed to get:

Do you like this coupon recipe idea? Or does it just get in the way of the coupon you want? As for myself I like the idea but sometimes I end up clipping out the recipe and forgetting about the coupon.

Wednesday Catch: Coca Cola Cake

Let’s get right to it, Wednesday Catch, a retro recipe, Coca Cola Cake Recipe.  I have not tasted or made this so bake at your own risk.

Coca-Cola Cake

STEP 1
2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup butter
1 cup Coca-Cola
3 Tbs cocoa

Mix the sugar and flour in a large bowl. Combine the oil, butter, Coca-Cola and cocoa and add to the dry ingredients.

STEP 2
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk

Add and mix well.

STEP 3
1-1/2 cup miniature marshmallows

Fold the marshmallows into the delicious mixture and bake in a greased and dusted with cocoa 9×13 inch pan for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

STEP 4
1/2 cup butter
3 Tbs cocoa
5 Tbs Coca-Cola

Bring to a boil.

STEP 5
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Add to the boiled cocoa and Coca-Cola. Combine and pour over the hot cake

Wednesday Catch: Chocolate

Today, almost a week since my terrible cold I’m feeling much better but still my taste buds are lacking but it doesn’t mean I can’t look and blog about foods I love.

Today’s Wednesday Catch is…Chocolate. I LOVE chocolate as do so many people.  “According to a 2006 John Hopkins study it showed that eating chocolate everyday can be beneficial to your health.”  So eat up!

Wednesday Catch: Paris

Today is the Wednesday Catch but before I get into that I must say that I’m in the middle of a blizzard. I went out for a few minutes and could not see a street block in front of me. There’s that much snow falling. To all those that need to be out today, be careful, take your time, walk and drive slowly.

So, I stumbled upon a blog that had to do with travels and food in Paris.  I always thought it would be nice to go to Paris but now I really feel that I need to save money and make it happen. I don’t care if I eat fast food and take pictures of beautifully prepared food and pastries all day. So here are a few of the sites I’ve come across:

Red Velvet Wednesday Catch

Today’s Catch is CAKE. But not just any cake but, Red Velvet Cake. I’ve had a few of these cakes some good and some not. The trick with this cake is the frosting. The cream cheese frosting is the one that makes it better or worse. I had a really good piece of Red velvet cake from Magnolia Bakery NYC.  Magnolia always has  lines outside the door so be prepared to wait.

Maybe I’ll try to make Red Velvet Cake for Valentine’s Day.
